What’s Happening?

Niece Motorsports released a statement this week stating that Crew Chief Wally Rogers will move to a full-time role as the Crew Chief of Bayley Currey’s 41 Chevrolet Silverado. Rogers has been a Crew Chief with Niece Motorsports since 2020 and most recently served as crew chief for Niece’s No. 44, driven by Conor Daly, at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

  • Last season, Rogers was the Crew Chief of Lawless Alan’s 45 truck for Niece. The pair had one top-ten. However, Rogers’s history as a Crew Chief in NASCAR goes back over two decades. In 2001, at the Xfinity Series level, Rogers was the Crew Chief for Randy LaJoie, where the pair won two races. Since then, he has been a Crew Chief in all three NASCAR National Series, winning at every level but the Cup Series.
  • This season, Rogers has been the crew chief for the part-time 44 truck for Niece. That team has only competed in one race at IRP with Conor Daly. The pair finished 29th. With his transfer, the team’s Competition Director, Tom Ackerman, will Crew Chief the 44 with Daly in starts at Kansas and Homestead later this season.
  • Rogers takes over for Cody Efaw, Niece Motorsport’s General Manager. Efaw took over duties on Currey’s 41 truck after the departure of multiple-time series champion Crew Cheif Mike Hillman, Jr., who is now the Crew Chief of Spencer Boyd’s Freedom Racing Enterprises entry. This season, Currey has no top-ten finishes. This is after last season when Currey showed promise with three top-fives in 11 starts.
