What’s Happening?

It’s a time for another tripleheader weekend for NASCAR as the Trucks, Xfinity, and the NASCAR Cup Series head to Martinsville Speedway. Whether you are at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for this weekend in Martinsville, Virginia?

• Martinsville Speedway is affectionately known as the paperclip due to its unique shape. Among many honors and records set by the track, it is also one of a handful to host a NASCAR playoff race every year since 2014 and since the introduction of NASCAR’s first playoff in 2004.
• Martinsville has hosted two NASCAR Cup Series races a year since 1950. The Truck Series first hosted two races a season at Martinsville from 2003 to 2018, before returning to two weekends a year in 2024. The Xfinity Series hosted multiple race weekends at the paperclip from 1982 to 1994, and did not do so again until 2021.
• Despite the time of year and consistency on the NASCAR schedule, weather has not factored into fall races at Martinsville as of late. However, cold temperatures are always possible for an October night race on the East Coast.
