What’s Happening?
This weekend, all three NASCAR National Series roll into Indiana with the Truck Series racing at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park and the Xfinity and Cup Series racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
- Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the most storied track in all of NASCAR. The 2.5-mile ‘Brickyard’ hosts one of the Cup Series’ four “Crown Jewel Races.” While the top two series head to Indy, the Truck Series rolls into the 0.686-mile Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
- The NASCAR Cup Series first raced at the Brickyard in 1994, and the Xfinity Series in 2012; each series has done so every year since. The Truck Series has raced at IRP since 1994, doing so from 1994 to 2011 before returning to the iconic Indianapolis short track in 2022.
- This weekend marks a turning point in the NASCAR season, as the Trucks return from break, and the Xfinity and Cup Series head out of the summer stretch.

Top Storylines of the Weekend

- The Brickyard 400 is the final race of the 2025 NASCAR In-Season Challenge. Ty Gibbs, who started off the season on a cold streak, and Ty Dillon, who started the bracket as the 32nd seed, are going head-to-head for $1 million. Unlike the NCAA Tournament, no one could have predicted either of the final two participants.
- This weekend is also the final weekend of TNT’s exclusive five-race coverage. While Cup Series races transition to NBC and USA Network next weekend, TNT is not entirely done. For the rest of the season, TruTV and HBO Max will have exclusive coverage of NASCAR Cup Series Practice and Qualifying.
- The 2025 Brickyard 400 is the third of NASCAR’s four crown jewel races in 2025. William Byron kicked off the season by winning his second Daytona 500, followed by Ross Chastain’s first Crown Jewel win at Darlington. After this weekend, only one Crown Jewel remains on the calendar, the 2025 Southern 500.
