What’s Happening?

NASCAR veteran Casey Mears has signed on to race in the final three NASCAR Cup Series races this season in Garage 66’s No. 66 Ford.

  • Mears will race on October 19 at Talladega Superspeedway, October 26 at Martinsville Speedway, and on November 2 at Phoenix Raceway. Sponsor SI Yachts and Acrisure will return to the hood of the No. 66 for all three outings.
  • The 47-year-old made his return to NASCAR after a five-year absence earlier this season at Martinsville Speedway, finishing 35th, 11 laps down, and returned at the regular season finale at Daytona, where he finished 29th, four laps down.
  • While Mears may not compete to win, he is pursuing the milestone of 500 career starts. If he starts all three of these upcoming races, he will end the season at 495 career starts, perhaps leaving the door open to more in 2026, though he has not announced such plans.
  • Prior to this season, Mears raced in NASCAR for 15 years from 2003 to 2019. He retired from full-time action after the 2017 season, but returned for the 2019 Daytona 500, which was his most recent start prior to Martinsville this season. Mears has one win in his career, the 2007 Coca-Cola 600.
