What’s Happening?

Stewart Friesen is preparing to add another achievement to his diverse motorsports career. The longtime NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series veteran has officially announced he will make his long-awaited ARCA Menards Series debut this weekend at Lime Rock Park, taking the wheel of Cook Racing Technologies’ No. 17 Toyota in Friday’s road-course event.

Friesen broke the news himself on social media, sharing the car’s striking Mohawk Northeast-backed paint scheme while expressing his excitement about partnering with Bruce Cook and Cook Racing Technologies for the event. He wrote:

“Thanks to Mohawk Northeast, Inc., we are going @ARCA_Racing racing this Friday at @limerockpark Looking forward to working with Bruce Cook and the @cookracingtech team! 4 p.m. ET | FS2”

The race will mark the first ARCA Menards Series start of Friesen’s career, despite the Canadian having spent years competing across NASCAR’s national ranks, including his one start in the Cup Series with the Spire Motorsports team, which came in 2021 at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he finished P23 after starting the race from P32.

The ARCA opportunity will also give Friesen a chance to build on a season filled with steady performances in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Driving full-time for Halmar Friesen Racing, he currently sits 13th in the championship standings with 273 points, one top-five finish, and three top 10s through the opening portion of the season in 13 starts.

Across his Truck Series career, the 42-year-old has established himself as one of the division’s most experienced competitors, collecting four victories, 52 top-five finishes, and 94 top-10s, with his most recent win coming at Michigan International Speedway last season.

His ARCA debut comes with Cook Racing Technologies, which has already demonstrated impressive speed on road courses this year.

The team’s No. 17 entry visited Victory Lane earlier in the season when Kaden Honeycutt won the Watkins Glen International race, giving Friesen confidence that he will have competitive equipment as he tackles Lime Rock Park for the first time in ARCA competition.
