What’s Happening?

NASCAR has levied a $50,000 behavioral infraction on Spire Motorsports’ driver, Carson Hocevar, following an on-track incident at Kansas Speedway.

  • The alleged incident occurred on lap 273 of Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas when Hocevar spun on the backstretch. Following this spin, which set up Sunday’s exciting finish, NASCAR alleges that Hocevar “revved and spun his tires” while officials were present.
  • Via Hocevar’s in-car camera footage, you can see Hocevar attempting to drive back to the pit road in an effort to avoid being taken to the garage. He ultimately stopped short with all four tires flat from the spin, exclaiming, “They’re going to DVP, this is fucking stupid” over the radio while officials hooked his car to the tow truck.
  • This spin would result in a 29th-place finish for Hocevar after a solid start to an afternoon in which he started sixth and ran towards the front for the majority of the day. While Hocevar is facing this financial penalty, his No. 77 team, which currently sits 22nd in Cup Series standings, is not facing a points fine.
  • Hocevar entered the 2025 season hoping to back up his 2025 Rookie of the Year campaign. While the 22-year-old has improved on his counting stats, with more top fives and top tens, his average finish has dropped from 18.3 to 21st.
