What’s Happening?

After a major overhaul of leadership at NASCAR this past weekend, the sport announced another change to its front office, with the creation of an executive leadership team.

  • The team is comprised of ten total names already within the structure of NASCAR. Per a press release, the executive leadership team aims to help NASCAR “reinforce its commitment to sustained growth, industry collaboration and continued innovation across the sport.”
  • The list of names includes a mix of names from different departments and one from IMSA, which NASCAR also owns. Individuals on the team include Ben Kennedy, Tim Clark, Brian Herbst, Amanda Oliver, Scott Prime, Greg Motto, Ed Bennett, John Probst, Laura Jackson, and Nicole Haves.
  • This new team comes nearly one week after reports first surfaced that long-time NASCAR CEO Jim France was stepping down from his role. In his place, the sport promoted now former NASCAR President Steve O’Donnell to CEO.
  • Alongside O’Donnell, executive leadership team member Ben Kennedy was also promoted to COO. Kennedy, the now former Executive Vice President and Chief Venue & Racing Innovations Officer, is a member of the France family.
