NASCAR on CW Recovers From Season Low Viewership in Mexico City

What’s Happening?

Following a disappointing showing for the Xfinity Series race in Mexico City, the NASCAR Xfinity Series on the CW rebounded well this past weekend, scoring its highest viewership since Charlotte Motor Speedway.

• The viewership numbers for NASCAR rise and fall often throughout the season. Ratings can usually bump up based on race or storyline. Since posting 1.148 million viewers at Charlotte on May 24, the Xfinity Series dipped to a season-low number for back-to-back races.
• Viewership from Charlotte to the race at Nashville Superspeedway declined almost 14% to 0.988 million viewers. Most fans expected a boost for the race at Mexico City, but that race, the first in Mexico since 2008 and won by a Mexican driver, drew in a miserable 0.868 million viewers.
• This is the lowest viewership for a race this season and the third lowest race on the CW since they took over coverage at the Bristol cut-off race last fall. But, seemingly out of nowhere, the network spiked in viewership again this weekend, scoring 1.120 million viewers for the third time this season.
• These fans saw Connor Zilisch and substitute Crew Chief Dale Earnhardt Jr bring home the win at Pocono Raceway. This number was not only an upswing for the CW but also Pocono, bringing in 10% more viewers than the 1.016 million viewers that watched the 2024 race on USA Network.
