What’s Happening?

Members of the NASCAR garage area are sharing their thoughts and memories of late NASCAR crew member Zachary Yager, who passed away last week at the age of 35.

Yager served in several diverse roles on pit road for several teams throughout the past decade. These teams include the likes of winning NASCAR Cup Series organizations like Team Penske and JTG Daugherty Racing, the latter of which he won the Daytona 500 with in 2023.

This season, Yager served on crews for both ThorSport Racing’s No. 88, driven by Matt Crafton, in the Craftsman Truck Series, and RSS Racing’s No. 39, driven by Ryan Sieg, in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Sieg posted about the late crewman on X, stating, “We are devastated at the loss of a member of the 39 team and the NASCAR family, Zachary Yager. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”

Though the remembrance of Yager did not stop here, with NASCAR Cup Series veteran Chris Buescher also posting about the passing of the former Crewman for RFK Racing’s No. 17. In his post, Buescher said that Yager was “such a good dude, super respectful, and just kind to my family and our racing family through the years.”

In a post on X, Craftsman Truck Series team ThorSport Racing said, “Our hearts are with his family, friends, and community as we remember and honor him together. Zach will be missed.”

In honor of their late jackman, ThorSport announced Tuesday morning that all four of its NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entries will carry memorial stickers for Yager this Saturday at Darlington Raceway.
