What’s Happening?

The Daily Downforce is sad to report that this evening, November 9, 2024, NASCAR legend and Hall of Famer Bobby Allison has passed away at the age of 86. Allison was a champion of the sport, winning the Cup in 1983. He was also a 3-time champion of the Daytona 500, including the 1988 running of the race where he won with his son, the late Davey Allison, finishing right behind him in 2nd. He was an 85-time winner, and his 85th career win was formally recognized by NASCAR just a few weeks ago. With that win added to his resume, he broke a tie with Darrell Waltrip to move into 4th on the all-time win list. He will be dearly missed.

Statement from NASCAR

As reported by Bob Pockrass, NASCAR CEO Jim France released the following statement.

We here at the Daily Downforce would like to express our condolences to the Allison family.
