Circle B Diecast Push Down

It’s a great time to be a NASCAR fan! As the sport we love seems to be in the middle of a rebuild with welcome positive results, it would appear that they are listening to their fans and making the appropriate changes to grow far into the future.

The latest positive change to come from NASCAR is actually from the tech side as their wizards of technology have updated their free mobile app to include some truly awesome features! Let’s check out what they’ve been cooking the last couple of months, shall we?

Augmented Reality

The biggest update to the NASCAR mobile app which seems to be getting the biggest positive response from fans is the Augmented Reality update.

AR Features Include:

  • A cut-away NextGen car. This feature allows fans to get an inside look at the NextGen car and all its key components, highlighting the steering mechanism, the transaxle, the chassis, the suspension, and many other parts and pieces. Fans can now see what makes the cars their favorite drivers compete, which is really cool!
  • Another new feature provided with the update is the ability fans have to create their own unique NextGen paint scheme. Once created, fans can then have their car perform a celebratory burnout! Wicked!
  • The AR addition to the app also features augmented reality point standings and updates.

Below are some screenshots of some of the AR NextGen features. This one is the suspension part of the car.

The picture below provides a highlight of the NextGen car chassis, which can be seen as one of the features in NASCAR’s latest update of their mobile app.

NASCAR Classics and Live Streams

Another key feature to be added to the NASCAR mobile app deals with video/streaming. During NASCAR’s 75th anniversary, one way NASCAR kicked off the celebration was to provide a NASCAR Classics tab on its website. With the feature, fans can now relive some of the greatest NASCAR moments, dating all the way back to the 1950s through to the present day. We, here at the Daily Downforce have definitely loved this feature on NASCAR’s man website but now, through this update, you can relive all the great races available on NASCAR Classics with the app! Over 1,000 races are uploaded currently with more on the way. If that doesn’t convince you to download the app or update it on your mobile device, what will?

If you’re looking for something to watch, we here at the Daily Downforce have published a few articles with suggestions, including this one:

Other video features include exclusive live streams of special events and exclusive behind-the-scenes “Press Pass” streams as well.

Real-Time Trackers and Updated Standings

The live leaderboard has long been a beloved feature of NASCAR.com. With this new app update, that feature has been improved to the highest standard imaginable.

New features in this area include:

  • The ability to track playoff drivers on the live leaderboard
  • A continuously updated and current points standings/playoff grid update
  • Points added according to race results
  • And stage results

These new updates are bound to give fans the most immersive experience ever, just shy of actually being there at the track.

In The Stands

Won95sr is excited about the stage results now being included as a feature of the app. As they point out, stages have been a reality in NASCAR for several years now but results are only recently being shown in the app. Certainly better late than never, though!

Synotaph is most excited about the NASCAR Classics page now being included, though they are afraid that now, because of its inclusion, they won’t get work done. Oh well, there has to be a sacrifice for happiness somewhere.

WereMadeOfStars just did a burnout in their kitchen. I did one in my office. It tore up the carpet a little bit. Hopefully, the wife won’t notice. 😉

US_Highway15 is interested in looking into paint schemes for the NextGen car featured with the update!

US_Highway15 is back, begging the question as to why the NASCAR Mobile App cut-away-car is better than the one shown on the FOX Sports graphics. It got a couple funny responses from TheOhterWhiteCastle and Jonah-Hex.

racerjohnny2825 lost his interest in the app when they took away the digital RaceView. Maybe that’ll be in the next update. NASCAR has done a pretty good job at listening to fans as of late.

FireBrainFrance, Jonah-Hex, and Monkey832 also ask for RaceView to return.

dersdrums commends NASCAR’s new lean toward using technology in new, creative, and exciting ways. It certainly is a change for the positive!
