What’s Happening?

A new post on Ram Trucks’ official X account has NASCAR fans buzzing about the OEM’s potential return to the sport.

This is the second teaser for this announcement, which most expect has to do with their rumored return to NASCAR. Ram Trucks posted their first teaser for Sunday’s announcement in May; however, at the time, there was little clarity about what they were teasing.

The new teaser features some NASCAR imagery, including the hashtag “donutday” and a HEMI V8 Ram doing a burnout at a racetrack with yellow-labeled Goodyear tires. The track in the video is likely Darlington Raceway, which Ram has already used in several pieces of Ram advertising.

Rumors that the Stellantis-owned brand could return to NASCAR in 2026 have circulated since early February. There has been a small flow of information since the initial rumors. However, news about Ram’s return to NASCAR has ramped up tremendously this week.

The first inkling of information came last Sunday from Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, who reported that the brand had ties to driver/influencer Garrett Mitchell, better known as Cleetus McFarland. On Wednesday night, NASCAR fans noticed what appeared to be a Ram-bodied NASCAR truck in the background of a YouTube video showing off the new HEMI V8 Ram truck.

While there is no confirmation that Ram will make an announcement this weekend, it would be fitting to do so as NASCAR is racing in the brand’s backyard at Michigan International Speedway. On Thursday night, another photo surfaced online showing the Ram NASCAR Truck at a race track that appeared to be Michigan, adding more fuel to this fire.
