- Marks, a California native, will drive the No. 77 for Spire, a truck that has featured a rotating cast of drivers this season. In fact, the truck scored a top ten finish in the Series’ first road race of the season at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix circuit.
- This will be Marks’ first race in NASCAR since 2023, when he raced in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on the streets of Chicago for Kaulig Racing. His return to NASCAR also serves as Marks’ first Truck Series start since 2022, when he finished 31st for Niece Motorsports at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
- Of course, it’s no surprise that for a return to racing, Marks would choose a road course. The 45-year-old is a former NASCAR OAP Series winner on a road course and a successful sports car racer with a win in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
- Marks’ return adds him to a growing list of returning drivers like Jamie McMurray and Brendan Gaughan, who are making their first starts in years at San Diego. He is also not the only Cup Series team owner racing in the truck race, as Legacy Motor Club owner Jimmie Johnson is racing for Tricon Garage as part of his double header weekend.
