What’s Happening?

A producer for iRacing’s NASCAR console game, NASCAR ’25, has confirmed that the tracks featured in the game are tied to their respective series.

Throughout the development of iRacing’s NASCAR ’25 console game, NASCAR fans have continually wondered if they will be able to race any of the four series on tracks they do not typically race on.

This feature, which opens up the game to new possibilities, has been present in past NASCAR games and has even been used as an unlockable item at times. For example, in some of the EA NASCAR games, players could unlock tracks, such as Nazareth Speedway, for the NASCAR Cup Series, even though the Cup Series never raced at Nazareth.

In later installments of the NASCAR Heat series, you could race series such as the NASCAR Xfinity Series at tracks like Canadian Tire Motorsports Park or the Craftsman Truck Series at tracks like Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

When iRacing unveiled its list of tracks on September 11, fans noticed that each series had its own set list of tracks. This announcement raised questions about whether tracks were tied to their specific series or if fans would be able to race on any track in any series.

During a recent interview with OverTake_gg, NASCAR 25 Producer Matt Lewis confirmed that, at least for the first installment of their NASCAR console series, players will only be able to race on a certain set of race tracks.

Lewis says that while it may seem simple to have this feature in the game, the tuning of AI opponents alongside the unique setups required for each track and each series, with four series across 30 tracks, creates an exponential amount of work.

“It’s not just the driving itself, that’s part of it, creating all the car setups per track, and then tuning the AI, tuning the AI speeds for different car models. It just becomes this exponential workload, where it’s like 30-something tracks times four series, times all the individual car setups and things like that.” — Matt Lewis

Nonetheless, Lewis calls this feature’s exclusion from NASCAR 25 unfortunate and says that “it’s something we definitely have to put in the future plans.”

While the game may not give players the freedom to select any track for any series, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some tracks playable that are not part of each series’ real-world schedule.

To fill the gap for excluded tracks like Portland International Raceway, the NASCAR Xfinity Series will have Michigan International Speedway.

However, the most notable changes are for the ARCA Menards Series, which will be missing seven of the series’ unique 20 tracks from the 2025 season. In place of these tracks, iRacing has added Martinsville Speedway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, and Richmond Raceway to help bring up the track count for the series.

NASCAR ’25 will be released on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 on October 14, with a PC port on Steam set for a later release. For any information, including timelines, promotional videos, and in-game info, make sure to check out our in-depth article on NASCAR ’25 below.
