- The blaze broke out around 6:19 p.m. on Blacksnake Road in rural Gaston County, requiring multiple fire departments to shuttle water due to no nearby hydrants and a lack of water in the area, taking around two hours to put out the fire.
- Firefighters arrived to find around 40% of the house already engulfed, with the structure being declared a total loss.
- Both individuals were outside when crews arrived. They were hospitalized, and no updates on their conditions or identities have been released.
- Crews saved expensive cars and racing memorabilia from the garage.
- The home, built in 2015, is owned through Hamlin’s real estate company but has been the residence of his parents, according to the fire chief.
- The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Hamlin has not made a public statement as of press time.
UPDATE 12:20 PM ET: Officials confirmed that one person died as a result of injuries from the fire, while the other individual hospitalized has life-threatening injuries. Identities of the deceased and the injured person have not been released. The cause remains under investigation.
