What’s Happening?
On the April 9 episode of the Dale Jr. Download, Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson expressed his interest in driving a V8 Supercar. “I really want to do Adelaide; it’s their finale,” Larson said. “They also have a sprint car race in the city that same week, so I could race sprint cars and supercars.”
- Larson expressed interest in running a V8 Supercars race in the future but has struggled to find the time.
- Connections have been made with teams through SVG.
How Soon Could Larson Make His Supercars Debut?
Connections with Supercars teams have been made, some through the NASCAR Cup Series rookie and Three-Time Supercars champion SVG, “There’s been connections, especially through SVG, so we’re working through it,” Larson said.
Larson’s plans could become reality through McLaren’s Zak Brown. Brown is the Chief Executive Officer of McLaren and co-owner of Walkinshaw Andretti United, a Supercars team. However, a potential hiccup in Larson driving for Walkinshaw is the team’s factory support agreement with Ford.
Supercars Race Would Add To Larson’s Resume
On May 25, Larson plans to execute his second attempt at the Memorial Day double, which fell short last year due to rain delays at the Indianapolis 500 and a rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600.
Throughout his already illustrious career, Larson has competed in series such as, World of Outlaws, Late Models and Sportscars. If the Supercars run comes to fruition, it would add to Larson’s diverse racing portfolio.
