What’s Happening?

Among the many somber tributes to NASCAR legend Kyle Busch since his passing Thursday afternoon, fans in the online NASCAR community have taken a time to reflect on Busch’s many incredible records, including some that may never be touched.

Kyle Busch’s time as a NASCAR driver is remembered for many things, chief among them his sheer dominance behind the wheel across all three NASCAR National Series.

So, whether it was breaking a record set by DW, Mark Martin, or even the King Richard Petty, here are some of Kyle Busch’s most unbreakable NASCAR records.

Bristol Wins

Now, we know Darrell Waltrip won at Bristol 12 times in the NASCAR Cup Series, but if you factor in all-time NASCAR Cup and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series wins, KFB is untouchable.

First, in the Truck Series, Busch won five times, in the OAP Series, Busch won nine times, and in the Cup Series, Busch tacked on ten more wins, bringing his lifetime total to 23.

In fact, Busch won on the track on two different layouts, bringing home his final career win at the track on dirt in 2022. He also swept all three races in a weekend twice, first in 2010 and again in 2017.

O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Wins

Let’s face it, when Kyle Busch passed Mark Martin for the most NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series wins in 2011, most figured his pace would slow at some point. But Busch pushed forward.

In 2015, Busch won his 75th race, and in 2021, he finally brought home his 100th career win. By the end of his time in the series in 2024, Busch won 27.8% of his career 367 NASCAR OAP Series races.

This was despite rules introduced in the 2010s that limited full-time Cup Series drivers to minimal starts in the series. With these rules still standing, albeit somewhat relaxed, and with the closest competition being 42-year-old Brad Keselowski at 39 wins, Busch is in the clear.

National Series Wins

Finally, to add to the mythos of Kyle Busch, let’s tack on some more wins to his total. After all, Rowdy is the all-time winningest NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver, where he won in 37.5% of his starts.

He is also ninth all-time in NASCAR Cup Series wins with 63. Tally that all together, and Busch has 234 NASCAR National Series wins, the most all-time, 34 ahead of Richard Petty.

Once again, with his closest active competition, Denny Hamlin, having 81 total, this record will stand long after the current generation of drivers has retired and well into the future.
