What’s Happening?
Following the abrupt and tragic passing of NASCAR Cup Series Champion Kyle Busch, fans in the NASCAR diecast community are seeing escalating prices for Busch diecast.

What’s Happening? A fleet of race cars packed with motorsport history from the Roush Automotive Collection will go under the hammer…
In the days since the passing of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, fans have quickly noticed the high prices that diecast and other merchandise of the future Hall of Famer are fetching online.
This influx in interest is similar to that of Greg Biffle when he and his family were killed in a December plane crash in North Carolina.
Still, with Busch’s run in NASCAR extending into record-breaking heights, diecasts reflecting some of his most iconic moments have seen an increase in interest from fans and collectors mourning the fallen legend.
For example, a signed ARC 1:24 diecast of his 2004 debut car, the somewhat forgotten Hendrick Motorsports No. 84, sold for $455 this past week on eBay.

The race-winning diecast of Busch’s final ever NASCAR Cup Series win at WWT Raceway in 2023 has also seen its fair share of high prices, with a standard, unsigned ARC 1:24 listing selling on Sunday for $399.99.

That same afternoon, a 1:24 signed diecast of his 2015 championship-winning car sold for $1,299, a price also reflected in 1:64 scale, as even the commemorative diecast has sold for upwards of $100

By far the biggest sale was not of a single car, but of a set, with one listing for the limited-edition, signed three-car set of Busch’s 2017 sweep at Bristol Motor Speedway selling for $2,495 on Friday.

Backlash in the Diecast Collecting Community
While many of these sales were auction-driven by bids, with most seeing a spike in bids after Busch’s passing last Thursday, many fans in the online NASCAR community are taking a stand against sellers that they see as having inflated prices on diecast.
In particular, fans are pointing to diecasts that are recent and base level, such as 2025 releases, regular ARC 1:64s, or even NASCAR Authentics releases, being listed at prices that they see as unrealistic and opportunistic in the wake of Busch’s passing.
I saw this post yesterday on facebook and it broke my heart. 13 year old kid just wanted a diecast. Maybe someone can help Krystal out. https://t.co/83hIiw53KP pic.twitter.com/QJxjh46Jpx

While there are many cases fans have pointed to as negative, there are also sellers who have received praise for not increasing prices on Busch’s diecast they have in stock, with some even putting the surge in prices toward a good cause.
In one example, eBay seller pinettesportsmemorabilia listed three 1:24-scale Busch diecasts of varying rarity and started each auction at $0.99.

Though this was already a praised move by fans in the diecast community, the seller also took it a step forward, vowing to donate 50% of the final auction sale price to Bundle Of Joy, a non-profit founded by Busch and his wife, Samantha.
As of press time, the three auctions are still ongoing, with all but one diecast over the $100 mark.
