What’s Happening?
Kerry Earnhardt, the eldest son of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Dale Earnhardt, fired back at his late father’s widow, Teresa Earnhardt, for attempting to rezone 399 acres for a data center campus.

- In response to a report from Joe Marusak of the Charlotte Observer mentioning the NASCAR legend in its headline, Earnhardt posted to his social media platforms, “My Dad would be livid for his name to be associated with this title!” However, the 55-year-old went on to explain that his frustrations go beyond the headline.
- Kerry, Teresa’s stepson, went on to say in his post, “Frankly, I’m ashamed our family name is involved in the request to rezone a community that is thriving as a Rural Residential/Agriculture zone to be changed to Industrial.” He explained the effects the data center will have on the residents, natural resources, and wildlife in the area.
- He is not the only community member who opposes the data center. In fact, an opposition campaign has formed called No Data Center Mooresville. A Mooresville Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 4 to discuss the issue.
- Kerry is a half-sibling of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kelley Earnhardt Miller. Unlike his brother, Kerry had a journeyman career in NASCAR, during which he raced sporadically in all three national series from 1998 to 2002.
