What’s Happening?

Kaulig Racing has appointed a new CEO after promoting long-time team President Chris Rice to the role, the team announced Thursday.

  • Per a press release from the team, Rice will continue to oversee “all aspects of Kaulig Racing’s competition and business operations.” Following this promotion, there is no indication of who or if anyone will take over the role of team President.
  • Rice is a long-time veteran of the sport in diverse roles and has been with Kaulig since the team opened its operation in 2016. Since then, the team has grown from a one-car Xfinity Series team to a winning, two-car, Cup Series organization.
  • Most importantly, the team is set to expand into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series next season with returning OEM Ram. The release directly points to Rice as the “driving force” behind this new relationship, which could see the team switch to another Stellantis brand in the Cup Series in the long run.
  • Despite massive overhauls to the team from last season, including two new full-time Cup and Xfinity Series drivers, Kaulig has had a less than ideal year. Not only has the team failed to meet expectations, but they even released Xfinity Series veteran Josh Williams prior to the end of the season.
