What’s Happening?

Dale Earnhardt Jr will take the track once again in 2026, racing late models for JR Motorsports on a part-time basis, the team announced.

  • Per a social media post Friday morning, Earnhardt will race on a part-time schedule in his iconic stylized No. 8 in 2026. Much like the 2025 season, drivers Wyatt Miller and Caden Kvapil will join the former Daytona 500 champion as JRM’s primary late model drivers for the 2026 season.
  • As of press time, JRM has yet to announce any of Earnhardt’s races for 2026. Last season, he made four starts at Cordell Motor Speedway, Anderson Motor Speedway, Florence Motor Speedway, and finally at Tri-County Motor Speedway in October.
  • Earnhardt got back behind the wheel of a late model in 2022 following several seasons of one-off efforts racing in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series.   Since then, the second-generation superstar has made around three to five starts a season in his late model, mostly in the CARS Tour.
  • Last season was a major one for Earnhardt, as, alongside expanding his CARS Tour effort, the 51-year-old reunited with his No. 8 for the first time in over a decade. In his four starts in the No. 8, which featured sponsorship from the likes of Sun Drop and Budweiser, Earnhardt scored a best finish of 10th at Anderson Motor Speedway.
