Joe Gibbs Racing finally filled out its 2025 Xfinity Series lineup. Monday afternoon, JGR officially announced that they signed William Sawalich to drive the No. 18 car in 2025. This comes one week after they announced that Taylor Gray will drive the No. 54 next season.
- William Sawalich is an 18-year-old phenom for Toyota. This season in the ARCA Menard’s Series East, Sawalich and Connor Zilisch traded wins, with Sawalich winning the war, which was his second ARCA East Championship in as many years.
- In the broader ARCA touring series season, Sawalich won nine races in 14 starts. This part-time schedule was benefited by a part-time trucks series schedule with Tricon Garage this season.
- Sawalich will make his Xfinity Series debut this weekend with Joe Gibbs Racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the No. 19. Next season, Sawalich is joining Brandon Jones and Taylor Gray in Joe Gibbs Racing’s Xfinity Series season.
- Notable drivers Joe Gibbs Racing passed over for this ride include Ryan Truex, presumably because of his lack of sponsorship, and Corey Heim, who has an alleged bad reputation with JGR. Sawalich leaves no Truck Series ride open with his promotion, as the No. 1 truck is for part-time drivers.
In a statement from JGR, Sawalich said:
”It has been really cool to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing, and I feel like I have developed so much as a driver over the past two years. I still have a lot to learn, especially with moving to a new series, so I am looking forward to taking this next step in racing.” — William Sawalich
