What’s Happening?

Brent Crews will compete in the majority of NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series races for Joe Gibbs Racing during the 2026 season in the team’s No. 19 entry.

The 17-year-old will only compete in 29 races this coming season in the No. 19, as, due to his age, he will miss four races of the 2026 season in anticipation of his 18th birthday on March 30.

Yet, due to a new program that allows 17-year-olds to race in the NASCAR OAPS prior to their 18th birthday, Crews will get to race at COTA on February 28. His first race after his 18th birthday will be the April 4 race at Rockingham Speedway.

Crews is one of the most highly touted Toyota prospects in some time, impressing in both the ARCA Menards and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this past season with JGR and Tricon Garage.

JGR has yet to announce who will drive the No. 19 in those races that Crews will miss, though this will be familiar territory for the No. 19 team.

Since 2023, the No. 19 has served as a full-time all-star car for JGR, with drivers such as Ryan Truex, Ty Gibbs, Denny Hamlin, and Aric Almirola all scoring wins for the team during this period.

The team has yet to announce its full 2026 NASCAR OAPS roster. However, many expect full-time drivers William Sawalich and Taylor Gray to return to their rides for sophomore efforts alongside veteran Brandon Jones.

This would give JGR one of the youngest OAPS rosters next year, with an average age of 21.75 as of Crews’ upcoming birthday.
