What’s Happening?

Christopher Bell will race in this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway despite injuries suffered in a crash at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday.

Per Joe Gibbs Racing, Bell suffered a broken left wrist during a crash in turn four at Michigan. Nonetheless, doctors cleared Bell to race this weekend, avoiding any potential issues that could arise from missing a race.

On Sunday, Bell was racing at the front of the field when Chase Elliott snapped loose and hit Bell in turn four.

The wreck was one of the most violent in Next Gen cars’ history, with silence falling over the grandstands and Prime Video booth in the moments after.

Initially, hopes were high after NASCAR released Bell from the infield care center after the crash. Still, team owner Joe Gibbs mentioned to the media after the race that Bell had an injury to his wrist and ankle.

Fans again got their hopes up Monday afternoon, when Bell was listed as the driver of the No. 20 on the preliminary entry list for this weekend’s race at Pocono.

In a post to social media, Bell said, “Thank you to each and everyone who reached out to check on me, I truly feel the love.”

As of press time, Bell sits 10th in points, six spots above the Chase cutoff line.
