What’s Happening
Legacy Motor Club announced this week that 7-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson will be making starts in the upcoming events at Circuit of the Americas and the Coca-Cola 600.
Fans are excited to see Jimmie back on track, but when the paint scheme was revealed, they quickly voiced their displeasure.
- Jimmie Johnson came out of retirement and made his debut start with Legacy Motor Club as co-owner/driver at the 2023 Daytona 500. Johnson showed that he was still able to wheel a stock car despite being out of a Cup car for a few years. He was caught up in an overtime wreck, ending Johnson’s Daytona 500 early.
- This will be Johnson’s first attempt on the 3.41-mile road course in Austin, Texas. He had competed in his last full-time Cup Season the year prior to NASCAR adding COTA to the schedule.
- While excited to see Johnson race even more dates this year, fans were none too pleased with the paint scheme he’ll be running at COTA. Paint schemes are near and dear to fan’s hearts, and this one may not to live up to Johnson’s other iconic cars.
