iRacing Confirms New Details and Release Timeline for IndyCar Game

What’s Happening?

iRacing Studios has announced a new timeline for the release of its debut IndyCar console racing game title, INDYCAR Racing The Game.

• iRacing announced plans for an IndyCar-based console game last fall, with hopes that the game would release in late 2026. Now the game will come out in early 2027, and per a post on the iRacing website, INDYCAR Racing The Game “is expected to launch in the countdown to the 2027 Indianapolis 500.”
• Though there is no official release date just yet, IndyCar fans finally got a look at early test footage of the game with two pictures of Pato O’Ward and Álex Palou’s cars racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Furthermore, the announcement confirmed the game will release on XBOX Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
• IndyCar joins World of Outlaws and NASCAR as officially licensed console games in the catalog of iRacing Studios. Last year, iRacing Studios released their first NASCAR console game, NASCAR 25, and will release the second game in the series, NASCAR 26, later this year.
• IndyCar has not had an official solo console racing game released since Codemasters’ 2004 game IndyCar Series 2005. Since then, the series has made scattered appearances in other racing games like Forza Motorsport and Project CARS.
