What’s Happening?
Prior to Tuesday’s eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series Playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway, a short teaser trailer revealed that there will be a Gold Edition of iRacing Studio’s upcoming NASCAR console game, NASCAR ’25.
With the impending release of NASCAR ’25, fans are looking for any and every leak, rumor, and snippet of information about the first NASCAR console game released since 2021.
During a recent live stream of the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series Playoffs, prior to the start of a race, a short teaser trailer for NASCAR ’25 featured confirmation of a ‘Gold Edition’ release of the game. This look was quick, but it featured the original cover with a gold accent and the ‘Gold Edition’ subtitle.
Though it does not look like the Gold Edition will have a special cover, beyond gold accents, fans are excited that there will be some form of special edition for the game. Of course, NASCAR games are no strangers to special editions of games, with the NASCAR HEAT series, released from 2016 to 2020, featuring Gold Editions of their own.
Gold Editions are often limited releases and can sell at a high price thanks to added special features. In other games, such as first-person shooters, this can come in the form of Player Skins, Icons, or weapons. In racing games, this could come with special paint schemes, paint booth sponsors, or even drivers.
For the NASCAR Heat Series, their Gold Edition special features came in the form of releases based on legendary drivers, with HEAT 4 featuring Jeff Gordon on the cover and HEAT 5 featuring Tony Stewart. Each edition of the game came with specialty paint schemes in-game, making both Gordon and Stewart playable characters.
As of press time, iRacing has yet to confirm any details about the Gold Edition of NASCAR ’25. Though it’s easy to imagine what could be featured with the special edition of the game, such as a season pass for DLC paint schemes, special exclusive paint schemes, or maybe a driver.
The game is set for a release for XBOX Series X/S and PS5 on Oct. 14, with a Steam release to be announced at a later date. For information, including timelines, promotional videos, and in-game info, make sure to check out our in-depth article on NASCAR ’25, which is linked below.
