What’s Happening?
In April, William Byron will throwback to one of Jeff Gordon’s most well-known paint schemes for NASCAR’s 2025 Throwback Weekend. On the tenth anniversary of Jeff Gordon’s final season in the No. 24, Byron will throwback to the final No. 24 Gordon piloted in 2015.

- The throwback is of a one-off paint scheme which honored Gordon’s career and time with AXALTA/Dupont and Hendrick Motorsports. Gordon entered this scheme in the 2015 NASCAR Season Finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
- In 2015, Gordon planned to retire at season’s end. He pieced together a quiet yet consistent one-win, five top-fives, and 21 top-tens in that year. Nonetheless, a late win locked him into the Championship Four at Homestead. In what was planned to be his final race, Gordon fell short of the title, finishing sixth in the race and third in points.
- Gordon, of course, returned to action in eight races during the 2016 season to substitute for an injured Dale Earnhardt Jr. Gordon is currently the Vice Chairman of Hendrick Motorsports.
- In his eight-year NASCAR Cup Series career, Byron has piloted the No. 24 every season. Now, in five of those seasons, Byron has run a Jeff Gordon throwback at Darlington. Last season, Byron’s scheme looked back at Gordon’s 2009 “Firestorm” paint scheme that ran until 2011.
