What’s Happening?
With all the shake-ups to NASCAR’s TV schedule in 2025, some fans may feel like they are outside looking in. This year, the NASCAR Cup Series will have fewer Network TV races and more Cable and Streaming races. However, NASCAR has a backup for those who cannot watch the race.
How does NASCAR Radio Broadcasting Work?
Throughout the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series seasons, three Radio Networks will cover the flag-to-flag action. Notably, MRN is the only radio broadcaster of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, regardless of the track or weekend.
The first and most well-known is NASCAR-owned MRN, or the Motor Racing Network, which covers all tracks owned and leased by NASCAR.
The second is PRN, or the Performance Racing Network, which covers all tracks owned and leased by Speedway Motorsports. SMI, as it is better known, owns and leases 11 tracks on the 36-race NASCAR schedule.
The final one is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network, which does one Cup Series race, the Brickyard 400, and one Xfinity race, the Pennzoil 250. They have a live stream on their website with their radio broadcasts.
All three will have qualifying and practice coverage on the radio as well. These three also cover the airways of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Channel 90 during the race for those with a satellite radio subscription.
How to Listen to MRN (Motor Racing Network)
MRN offers several options for those wanting to listen to radio broadcasts of NASCAR races.
The NASCAR App, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, broadcasts MRN free under the scanners section during a race weekend. However, if you have trouble with the app, the MRN website has a live radio feed that will appear on its homepage on race day.
For traditional radio audiences, MRN also supplies a Radio Partners page on their website; this allows you to narrow down what station to tune into by first asking you what series you are looking for and what state you live in.
How to Listen to PRN (Performance Racing Network)
PRN also offers several similar options for those wanting to listen to radio broadcasts of NASCAR races.
The NASCAR App, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, broadcasts PRN free under the scanners section during a race weekend. However, if you have trouble with the app, the PRN website has a live radio feed on its homepage under the “Shows” tab.
PRN also has a standalone app with a built-in live stream. The app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
For traditional radio audiences, PRN, like MRN, supplies a Radio Partners page on its website. Unlike the MRN website, PRN only asks users what series or show they are looking for and then supplies a full list of affiliates who carry that programming.
When do You Know What Station to Listen To?
Once again, the two main broadcasters are divided by track. This can get confusing; however, both supply a list of race broadcasts for their listeners.
- MRN’s Program Calendar is divided by the current month.
- PRN’s Calendar shows the season as a whole.
For ease, we will also supply a list of races divided by the station on which they broadcast. Please note that all NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Races are broadcast only on MRN; this list will feature only the Cup and Xfinity Series races.
