What’s Happening?

After months of speculation, Homestead-Miami Speedway has finally been named the host of NASCAR’s 2026 Championship Weekend. This marks a highly anticipated return to one of the sport’s most popular tracks, which should please both drivers and fans, who have been pushing for NASCAR to bring the finale back to the 1.5-mile racetrack.

  • Homestead will host the championship races for the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series in 2026.
  • The 2026 championship venue selection applies to that year only.
  • Starting with the 2026 season, NASCAR plans to rotate the location and the racetrack of the finale annually.
  • Phoenix Raceway is expected to remain in the rotation pool, despite losing exclusive rights to the finale.
  • The 2025 schedule remains unchanged, with Phoenix Raceway set to host this season’s Championship Weekend.

Homestead previously hosted NASCAR’s championship weekend from 2002 to 2019, until the finale moved to Phoenix in 2020. It has not left the venue ever since. The change was met with mixed reception due to less compelling on-track action, which still does not please fans to this day. The return to the venue in South Florida results from a “joint effort” between NASCAR and local government leaders who pushed for the event’s comeback.
