What’s Happening

One of NASCAR’s best underdog stories of 2024 finally knows the next step in his career. Friday morning, AM Racing announced that Harrison Burton will be the driver of the team’s Xfinity Series entry in 2025.

  • Harrison Burton is the son of NASCAR legend Jeff Burton. He took the NASCAR world by storm when he made his NASCAR National Series debut in the late 2010s. Burton drove for Joe Gibbs Racing full-time in the Xfinity Series in 2020 and 2021. In his two seasons at JGR, Burton won four races and was a championship contender.
  • Burton signed with Ford and the Wood Brothers prior to 2022. Sadly, Burton has seen a dramatic statistical falloff every season since then. His poor performance culminated in the team signing Josh Berry for 2025. However, after being all but fired, Burton went on to win his first race at Daytona in August. In doing so, Burton locked himself into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs for the first time.
  • AM Racing opened its Xfinity Series program in 2023 with former Truck Series champion Brett Moffitt behind the wheel. Prior to this season, the team signed a deal with one-time top Ford prospect Hailie Deegan. Unfortunately, that fell apart during the summer, with Deegan and the team mutually parting ways. Since her departure, the team has filled its ride with mostly Cup Series talent from the Ford Camp.
  • We had previously predicted that AM Racing would be a top potential landing spot for Burton.

In a statement from AM Racing, team President Wade Moore said:

“AM Racing is proud to welcome Harrison Burton on board. He is a first-class individual and has already proven that he will immediately impact each team member here at AM in a positive manner. His experiences across NASCAR’s National Series will position him to be a leader and a catalyst in our pursuit of Victory Lane and the goals we ultimately envision for this program.” — Wade Moore, team President, AM Racing
