- Just mere weeks after the Biffles passed in the December 18 plane crash, alleged burglars stole $30,000 in cash and a backpack from the former home of the Biffles in Iredell County, North Carolina.
- The Iredell County Sheriff’s Department reported the money and backpack missing on January 6, and, per a report from Hank Lee of WCNC Charlotte, no arrests have been made.
- The plane crash occurred at Statesville Regional Airport at 10:15 AM ET, when Biffle’s plane, a 1981 Cessna Citation Business Jet, attempted to return to the airport shortly after takeoff. The resulting crash took the lives of Biffle, his wife Cristina, their son Ryder, his daughter Emma, as well as Dennis Dutton, his son Jack Dutton, and Craig Wadsworth.
- The National Transportation Safety Board investigation into the crash officially began on October 19, and as of press time, the investigation is ongoing.
- A Gathering of Remembrance for those lost in the plane crash is scheduled for Friday, January 16, at 11:00 AM ET, and will be live-streamed on the NASCAR Channel, NASCAR.com, as well as NASCAR’s YouTube and Facebook. For those interested in attending, doors open at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, NC, at 10:00 AM ET.
