What’s Happening?
After missing four races due to injury, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Frankie Muniz is set to return to action this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.
I'm thrilled to announce that I'm officially BACK after that pesky broken wrist sidelined me. Docs gave me the green light, and I'm hitting the track again THIS WEEK at Talladega!

I've been itching to get behind the wheel, and this break only fired me up more. Super motivated… pic.twitter.com/pAvBoRHhDl
- Muniz announced his injury over six weeks ago, posting on X on August 28 that he had suffered a distal radius fracture after falling off a ladder at home. At the time, Muniz stated that he was facing a recovery period of 6-8 weeks.
- Of course, as a result of his injury, the 39-year-old would be out of his Reaume Brothers Racing No. 33 for an unknown amount of time. In his absence, Mason Maggio drove the No. 33 in three races, and Tyler Tomassi piloted the Truck in one race, with Maggio bringing home a best finish of 26th during Muniz’s stint on metaphorical the injured list.
- While Muniz missed nearly seven weeks of action, he ultimately only missed four races, as the Truck Series playoff schedule is scattered compared to its fellow National Series. During that time, he was passed by TRICON Garage’s Toni Breidinger for fifth in Craftsman Truck Series Rookie of the Year standings.
- Although the actor-turned-driver has had a rather lackluster first season in the Truck Series, his return comes just in time for the series finale superspeedway race of the season at Talladega. This is notable for Muniz, as Talladega is the sister track to Daytona International Speedway, where he scored his best finish of tenth in the series’ season opener in February.
