What’s Happening
As part of a flurry of Silly Season moves this week, McAnally-Hilgemann Racing has the new driver of their flagship No. 19. Former champion Daniel Hemric will step down to the series in 2025. However, this could be his best chance to win yet.
- Daniel Hemric is leaving the Cup Series following the 2024 season. Hemric is heading to the No. 19 truck with McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, a truck coming off a championship-caliber season. When this rumor first circulated, we stated that our sources in the garage area pointed to MHR as Hemric’s likely landing spot for 2025.
- Christian Eckes drove the No. 19 to four wins and 22 top-tens in 23 races this season. Eckes is heading to a revamped Kaulig Racing in the No. 16 next season. Kaulig, trying to find new life, has moved a lot of its pieces around for 2025.
- Hemric raced for Kaulig this season in the No. 31 Cup Series ride. While Hemric led the Cup Series in total laps this season, his numbers did not bode well for him.
- Ty Dillon will drive that No. 31 car, now No. 10, in 2025. However, Hemric is landing on his feet. Despite winning an Xfinity Series championship in 2021, Hemric has just one career win in NASCAR’s top three series.
- Hemric can’t seem to compete at the top level, and his best move is to step down to the Truck Series in 2025. “This is a great opportunity for me to compete for wins and chase another championship,” Hemric said in a press release from MHR.
