What’s Happening?
According to the official NASCAR Mexico City website the Cup, Xfinity, and Mexico Series will race on a 14-turn 3.89 km (2.417-mile) layout this season. This layout is different from the well-known 2.674-mile Grand Prix Circuit, which features 17 turns.

- The race will take place on June 15 at Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. This circuit is making its Cup Series debut but not its Xfinity Series debut. The series raced at the track from 2005 to 2008.
- The layout used by the Xfinity Series from 2005 to 2008 was 2.518 miles and had just eight turns. The main difference this season is that the cars will race through the track’s unique stadium section. Compared to the well-known Formula One layout, NASCAR takes a right turn at turn four. Formula One turns left at turn four, meaning the NASCAR layout cuts off what is typically turns five and six.

- NASCAR announced the addition of Mexico City to the schedule on August 27. This race will be the first Cup Series race held outside the U.S. since 1958. The race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez adds a sixth road course race to the schedule, removing one of Richmond’s two races.
- Other storylines facing the race weekend include the first-ever Cup, Xfinity, and NASCAR Mexico Series triple-header weekend. The other is that this race will be the fourth of five races streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
