What’s Happening?

Beard Motorsports, a fan favorite family-owned race team, will attempt the 2026 Daytona 500 with driver Anthony Alfredo back behind the wheel of the No. 62.

  • This entry will mark Alfredo’s seventh career entry with Beard and his third Daytona 500 attempt with the team. Last season, the Beard and Alfredo failed to make the Daytona 500 after a 13th-place finish in the second duel race.
  • Typically, the No. 62 team will make starts in the season’s superspeedway races, something they once again did in 2025, though they did not enter the summer race at Daytona. In four starts with Alfredo (at Talladega) and Jesse Love (at Texas and Indianapolis), the team scored a best finish of 21st.
  • Throughout their history as a part-time team, Beard has made 34 races, scoring seven top tens, and a best finish of fifth in the 2022 Daytona summer race. This race will mark the team’s tenth attempt to make the Daytona 500 as an open car, having previously qualified six times, with three DNQs in 2021, 2023, and 2025.
  • If they want to make the field in 2026, they will have to deal with a stacked field, including a projected seven open entries. Though the team will have one less competitor, as Jimmie Johnson and Legacy Motor Club’s No. 84 is using an Open Exemption Provisional, leaving four spots for non-chartered entries.
