If you’ve watched the Xfinity Series over the past month, you may have seen an interesting driver driving the 19 car for Joe Gibbs Racing, Connor Mosack. Who is Connor Mosack, and how did he get to where he is now in the first place? There truly is more to Connor Mosack than meets the eye.
Early Career and Education
Connor Mosack was born on January 20, 1999 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Unlike most who begin their racing careers at very young ages, according to his website, Mosack began racing in 2018 at the age of 19.
His website also notes that Mosack competed in the Semi-Pro Championship at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2018 and the Cook Out Winter Pro Heat in 2019 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He won the championship in both series.
During this time, Mosack was also going to school. According to his website, he attended High Point University in High Point, North Carolina, studying entrepreneurship.
As all of this was happening, Mosack began competing in the CARS Late Model Stock Tour full-time in 2020 for JR Motorsports. Mosack recorded eight top-10 finishes and three top-5s en route to a sixth place points finish. His best finish was third, coming twice at Kenly and Callaway.
Racing Anything with a Motor
From there, in 2021 and 2022, Mosack began racing in virtually any discipline of racing he could. From Trans-Am on road courses to late models to even starting to dabble in NASCAR.
He began running select ARCA Menards Series races in 2021. He ran three races for Tyler Young in the ARCA Menards Series with a best finish of 11th in the season finale at Kansas. Mosack also ran two ARCA Menards Series East races with a best finish of seventh coming at Dover.
In 2022, Mosack had his breakout ARCA season. Not only did he get a career best third place ARCA East Series finish at Bristol, but he ran 8 ARCA Menards Series races. In those eight races, he had seven top-10s and four top-5s.
He led his first ARCA laps at Charlotte, a race he would finish in fourth place. His best finish was third at Iowa Speedway. He made two Truck Series starts too, but he finished outside of the top-30 in both races.
Off the track, 2022 was also a big year for Mosack because he graduated from college according to his website. Now, is his degree working towards something even though he is racing? It is indeed!
Mosack’s website says that he was put in High Point University’s 10 under 10 list, a list that chronicles the 10 best graduates of a class at High Point University. He also has spent time supporting organizations in his community including the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and Covenant Day School.
During all of this, Mosack has continued to build his racing career. In late 2022 and 2023, his biggest career opportunities yet came.
Move to Xfinity
In 2022, Mosack began partnering with Sam Hunt and Joe Gibbs. He began racing in the Xfinity Series with one race for each team in 2022. In 2023, Mosack signed on to race in 23 races in the Xfinity Series for Hunt and Gibbs.
Mosack got his best career finish in the series at Portland with an eighth place finish. Despite not getting great results, he has two fourth place qualifying runs in his races for Gibbs.
According to his website, Mosack continues to run in other racing series including trans am, late models, and ARCA. He finished second in the season opening ARCA Menards Series race at Daytona.
Connor Mosack is truly one of the most interesting prospects in NASCAR. Someone with a degree in entrepreneurship racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and one who does some cool charity work. How far can Mosack go?
