What’s Happening?

NASCAR may have set aside the “Throwback Weekend” tag, but when NASCAR heads to Darlington Raceway this weekend, several teams across the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts and Cup Series garage will show their support for the history of NASCAR, keeping throwback schemes in play on their own terms.

But this time, some of these tributes to NASCAR’s past carry more weight than the past, as several teams have chosen to use the stage to honor Greg Biffle, who died in a plane crash in December 2025. Instead of letting the moment pass, these teams have taken it upon themselves to keep his memory in the frame, turning race day into an appreciation of his NASCAR career.

NASCAR Cup Series

In the Cup garage, RFK Racing is leading from the front. The team has committed to using Biffle’s paint schemes, honoring his time with RFK Racing, which spanned 2003 to 2016. For 14 years, Biffle was part of the organization, winning all 19 of his Cup races with the team. And now the group is circling back, bringing those looks to the track once more.

No. 6 – Brad Keselowski – RFK Racing

Solomon Plumbing – 2010 Greg Biffle Scotch-Brite Ford Throwback

Brad Keselowski will go to Darlington Raceway, bringing back a look from 2010 funded by Scotch-Brite Ford. His No. 6 Ford Mustang NASCAR Cup car will carry the same green, yellow, and white pattern as Biffle once did. For the weekend, Solomon Plumbing will ride along as his sponsor.

No. 17 – Chris Buescher – RFK Racing

Fifth Third Bank – 2011 Greg Biffle Texas Motor Speedway  Throwback

Chris Buescher will bring the look of Greg Biffle’s 2011 paint scheme, which he drove at Texas Motor Speedway. The design follows the same layout, with blue and white across the body and the number painted in neon yellow, keeping the link to that run intact.

No. 60 – Ryan Preece – RFK Racing

Heinz/Oscar Mayer/Kroger – 2009 Greg Biffle Daytona 500 Throwback

The third driver of the RFK Racing squad, Ryan Preece, will line up in the No. 60 Ford, with his car sporting Biffle’s 2009 No. 16 look in black and yellow stripes over a white base. The number font will align with the rest of the RFK Racing stable, all marked in neon yellow, tying the cars together under one banner.

NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series

No. 26 – Dean Thompson – Sam Hunt Racing

Thompson Pipe Group – 2011 Greg Biffle 3M Racing scheme

Over in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Dean Thompson will fly the flag for his own outfit with backing from Thompson Pipe Group. His truck will mirror the scheme Biffle ran in 2010, bringing back the black and red look that once carried the 3M sponsor’s name.

No. 44 – Brennan Poole – Alpha Prime Racing

CW & Sons – 2006 Greg Biffle Southern 500 Win Throwback

Meanwhile, Brennan Poole and Alpha Prime Racing will take the No. 44 car down memory lane, reproducing the design Biffle drove at Darlington Raceway in 2006. The CW & Sons-backed entry will carry blue, red, and white, rounding out a set of tributes that keep Biffle’s mark in sight.
