Atlanta, now EchoPark Speedway, brought the chaos early but didn’t stop there. A massive crash wiped out top contenders just 70 laps into the 260-lap race, leaving big names like Logano and Hamlin on the sidelines. But from that moment on, the intensity only ramped up. Super-speedway style pack racing, unpredictable moves, and a packed grandstand under threat of rain turned this into one of the most thrilling races of the season. • Eric felt the massive early wreck was a real downer, wiping out several top contenders before the race could fully develop, but he also emphasized that the quality of the racing that followed was undeniable.
• Despite the usual superspeedway carnage, Eric finds Atlanta’s new identity to be one of the Cup Series’ most exciting tracks, like Dale Jr has pointed out before. He missed seeing drivers like Logano and Hamlin in the closing laps, but the duel between Keselowski, Buescher, Elliott, and Bowman still delivered a great show.
• Broadcast-wise, Eric praised the booth’s energy and presence, besides strong pit road reporting. His only real complaint was that watching via HBO Max meant missing out on side-by-side ads, despite it being a paid service, a return to full-screen breaks during green flag runs that fans got unused to during the Amazon Prime period. Besides, he didn’t like the muffled engine sounds, as the sound mixing left something to be desired.
