What’s Happening?

It was only a matter of time, and the incident earlier with Zilisch was just a sample size. With the weather becoming a growing threat and us being halfway and nearing the end of the second stage, the racing got very intense out front. Justin Allgaier was leading the race. He got an awesome push but got out too far in front of the back. This allowed Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney to get a massive run. As the No. 11 and 12 make a run to Allgaier’s outside, the No. 40 JRM car blocked late, sandwiching Hamlin into the wall.

This caused a massive chain of reaction where multiple cars were caught up in the debacle. Some of the drivers involved include Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, Todd Gilliland, Shane van Gisbergen, Denny Hamlin, and Ross Chastain, among others.

  • Allgaier, in a one-off start for JR Motorsports in an open car entry, managed to qualify for the Daytona 500 via speed in Wednesday night’s qualifying session.
  • In the duels, he took it easy, lingering around the back all race, trying to keep his nose clean. As a result, he started in the 38th position.
  • He wasn’t so conservative in today’s Daytona 500, however. Much to the delight of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Justin Allgiaer was right in the mix racing for the lead for a bulk of the second stage. Unfortunately, it got him in trouble and sparked the fire for the Big One.
  • It is unclear as to whether or not JRM will enter the No. 40 car in any other races in the 2026 season. Last year, they also entered the Daytona 500, managing a solid 9th place finish.
