What’s Happening?

During the April 22 episode of the Dale Jr. Download, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr expressed concerns about a potential Cup race at Rockingham. “My thought is that this might not need to be a Cup Race,” Earnhardt said. “First time I’ve ever experienced people saying, I don’t know if Cup needs to go there, it might not race well.” Earnhardt further expressed his reasoning on why the Cup series should avoid Rockingham. “It’s not a track issue,” Earnhardt said. “Just for that comment to be said: ‘Don’t take that car there, it won’t race well,’ Earnhardt said. “When have you ever heard that?”

NASCAR’s Return To The Rock: A Much-Needed Success

The return to Rockingham brought what has become a rarity in NASCAR, a sold-out crowd. Saturday’s Xfinity Series race sold out to a crowd of approximately 25,000. Friday’s Craftsman Truck Series race brought in around 16,000 attendees.

Saturday’s race at the Rock continued the Xfinity series’ televised success in 2025. The streak of one million viewers on TV extended to 10 races, with 1.053 million viewers tuning in to the return to Rockingham.
