NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., FloSports, and the zMAX CARS tour announced on Friday a plan to elevate racing roots with a doubleheader race the sport has never seen. On August 2, a record-setting total purse payout of $200,000 will be up for the taking at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, N.C.

  • The record-setting race will be broadcast on FloRacing on August 2 and raced at Hickory Motor Speedway.
  • The races consist of Late Model Stock and Pro Late Model.
  • The Late Model win payout will be $50,000 and $2,500 to start. Pro Late Model pays $30,000 to the winner and $1,500 to start.

Historic Moment For Grassroots Racing

The record-setting purse payout race on August 2 at Hickory Motor Speedway will pay over $200,000 across the two races. “This payout is simply incredible for the series, driver, and teams,” Earnhardt Jr said in the press release. FloSports and Earnhardt Jr’s partnership features content support across FloRacing to spotlight short-track racing’s biggest stars.

Honoring The Legacy Of Racing

Since 1951, Hickory Motor Speedway has hosted some of the biggest moments in grassroots racing and is setting the standard again. The Throwback Classic has held a special place in short-track racers’ hearts. “With this announcement, it’s now the biggest pavement short track event of the year, period, ” Earnhardt Jr. said in the press release.
