NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr and Grammy Award-winning musician Chris Stapleton have unveiled their newest NASCAR collaboration for the 2026 Daytona 500.

- This is the second year in a row these two will enter Justin Allgaier in the Daytona 500, having previously announced the entry in November. For 2026, the Traveller Whiskey No. 40 takes a retro look as opposed to the more modern take of Earnhardt and Stapleton’s 2025 Daytona 500 entry.
- Many fans are also pointing out the addition of faux contingency sponsors, the small sponsors surrounding the front wheel wells, which are no longer used in NASCAR’s Cup Series. These fake contingencies include sponsor Brandt, JR Motorsports, an alternate take on the Traveller Whiskey logo, and Traveller’s distiller, Buffalo Trace.
- Last year, the No. 40 was one of the best stories of the Daytona 500. Allgaier made the field with a solid finish in his duel race, and backed it by bringing the war-torn and battered No. 40 home with an unlikely ninth place in JR Motorsports’ first-ever NASCAR Cup Series race.
- This year, the No. 40 will have to make the field on time once again as one of a rumored seven open, or non-chartered entries. So far, there are three non-charter entries in the Daytona 500, though one car, the No. 84 of Jimmie Johnson, is racing with an OEP, which guarantees his qualification for the race, while not taking away one of the four spots reserved for open cars.
