- Gilliland, a second-generation driver, debuted for FRM at the Cup Series level in 2022, driving the team’s No. 38. While Gilliland has seen his fair share of rumors regarding his departure, he is now the team’s longest-tenured driver in their flagship No. 34.
- Gilliland, now in his fifth full-time year of competition, is a graduate of the team’s dominant Truck Series program. In his time in the Cup Series, the 26-year-old has just two top-five finishes and 16 top-ten finishes to his name.
- His extension marks an important point in the 2027 Silly Season for the team, seemingly confirming that both he and his teammate, Zane Smith, will return in 2027. While the team has officially confirmed Smith’s return, the former Truck Series Champion signed a multiyear contract extension last fall.
- The major question now facing FRM is the future of their No. 4 car, as rumors continue to swirl that second-year driver Noah Gragson is on the hot seat. While there are plenty of drivers who could replace Gragson, such as developmental driver Layne Riggs or veteran Josh Berry, the team has yet to make a move on the future of the No. 4.
