What’s Happening?

Wood Brothers Racing Crew Chief Miles Stanley will miss this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway due to an undisclosed personal matter.

  • This will be the first race Stanley will miss during his time as the Crew Chief of the No. 21 team. Per NASCAR.com, this is a temporary swap, with Stanley not traveling to Kansas this weekend, though he will remain the car’s full-time Crew Chief.
  • In his place, the team is calling on Cup Series veteran Matt Swiderski to call the shots for Berry. Swiderski has served as a crew chief for several teams this decade, with his most recent stint coming with Daniel Suarez at Trackhouse Racing.
  • During their time at Trackhouse, Swiderski and Suarez scored two wins and finished tenth in points in 2022. Swiderski did not land a full-time gig in 2026 after Trackhouse and Suarez parted ways, with Spire Motorsports keeping Crew Chief Ryan Sparks on the No. 7 for the new year.
  • So far this season, Berry is off to a cold start, with a 24.4 average finish and two DNFs. While the team made the playoffs in 2025, under the new Chase format, Berry needs to get in gear soon if he hopes to return to NASCAR’s postseason.
