What’s Happening?

NASCAR Cup Series Rookie Connor Zilisch will return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this weekend to take over for Spire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar.

  • Hocevar, who has driven the team’s No. 77 truck for all but one race this season, was initially listed as the driver of the truck this weekend. However, late Monday night, a new preliminary entry list showed that the driver of the No. 77 was now TBD.
  • While there was no reason given for Hocevar’s removal, he is still entered in Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, and the No. 77 truck has its new driver. Trackhouse Racing Cup Series Rookie Connor Zilisch will now drive the No. 77 this weekend, per the latest entry list.
  • Charlotte will mark Zilisch’s second Truck Series start of the season with Spire. In his prior start in the team’s part-time No. 71 truck at Watkins Glen, the 19-year-old finished second to points leader Kaden Honeycutt.
  • This weekend will also be Zilisch’s first start on an oval in the series since 2024. Despite his quick rise to the top, Zilisch shockingly only has five oval starts in the Truck Series, and has not yet won a race in the series, on either an oval or a road course.
