What’s Happening?
Trackhouse Racing prospect Connor Zillisch announced Thursday that he would enter another NASCAR Cup Series race in the team’s No. 87. Despite indications that he would not race again in 2025, the 18-year-old will make his oval racing debut in the Cup Series at the Coca-Cola 600.

- Zillisch announced his second race date via his X account Thursday morning. This announcement follows a Mar. 6 interview in which Zilisch claimed that he was uncertain if he would race in the Cup Series again this season, saying, “We [Trackhouse Racing] haven’t really talked about it at this point.”
- The Xfinity Series rookie went on to tell SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, “Obviously, it takes a lot of money, and it’s a fourth car that Trackhouse doesn’t run very often.” However, the road course ace did hint that he would like to make that start on an oval, saying, “I’d probably want to shift away from trying to go to my forte and my bread and butter.”
- Though Zilisch said he had no other planned races for his No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet, it looks like that status has changed. Zilisch will get his shot at a Cup Series oval, albeit on a track he has not raced on in any NASCAR National Series.
- Zilisch, known for his road course racing prowess, has had a surprisingly solid start to his NASCAR oval career. Though he has yet to win on an oval, he sat on the Truck Series pole at Bristol last fall and has averaged a top-five start in the past four Xfinity Series oval races this season.
