What’s Happening?

Connor Zilisch is being evaluated in NASCAR’s infield care center after falling off his car while celebrating his dominant victory in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen.

UPDATE: 9:51 PM EST | Trackhouse Racing has withdrawn Zilisch’s No. 87 from Sunday’s race.

UPDATE: 9:19 PM EST | Zilisch posted on X confirming that he has broken his collarbone and does not have a head injury. Zilisch posted, “Thank you everybody for reaching out today. I’m out of the hospital and getting better already.”

UPDATE: 7:26 PM EST | Dustin Albino of Jayski reports that Zilisch is being moved to a local medical facility for further evaluation.

  • While standing atop his No. 88 to celebrate the win with his team, Zilisch seemed to catch his foot on the inside of his car, slipping and hitting the ground. The 19-year-old remained on the ground as safety officials ran to his aid.
  • Following a somber transition to commercial break, CW Sports’ Dillon Welch confirmed that Zilisch was alert and speaking to medical personnel before being transported to an ambulance via stretcher. Following this, Zilisch reportedly sat up while in the ambulance.
  • The victory lane celebration was cancelled, and the No. 88 was rolled out of victory lane as the ambulance transported Zilisch to the track’s infield care center. His long-time friend, fellow Xfinity Series driver Jesse Love, reportedly checked in on Zilisch at the infield care center.
  • This followed a dominant show of speed from the 19-year-old JR Motorsports driver en route to his sixth win of the season, second in a row at the Glen, and his seventh career Xfinity Series win. As of press time, Zilisch is set to race in tomorrow’s NASCAR Cup Series race at the Glen.
  • This is a developing story and will be updated as more information on Zilisch’s status is made available.
