With support from @elfcosmetics, @katherinelegge will be the first woman to ever attempt The Double — racing in the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

Legge previously announced her plans to return to the Indy 500 with A.J. Foyt Racing in April; now, Mitchell Northam of USA TODAY reports Legge will also race in the Coca-Cola 600 later that afternoon with Live Fast Motorsports.
This makes Legge the latest driver to attempt both races in the same day, with Kyle Larson’s 2024 and 2025 attempts failing to reach the 1,100-mile goal. Legge is also the first female to plan an attempt at the double.
The 45-year-old made her NASCAR Cup Series debut last season with Live Fast at Phoenix Raceway. After a slow start, she showed improvement with more seat time, though Charlotte Motor Speedway will be only her second-ever start on an intermediate track.
Her main challenge will be qualifying for both races. Legge is four for four in her attempts to make the 500, though there are 33 drivers entered for 33 spots in this year’s race. That means Charlotte is her only worry, though it seems unlikely that more than 40 cars will enter the race.
Then she will have two more challenges: finishing the race and the weather. Kyle Larson dealt with weather in both his attempts, with an early end to the Coca-Cola 600 resulting in a half-completed attempt in 2024.
Tony Stewart’s 2001 effort with Chip Ganassi Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing is considered the best attempt at a double so far. In that effort, Stewart finished all 1,100 miles, coming home sixth at Indy and 3rd at Charlotte.
