Confirmed: NASCAR’s New 2027 Chase Cutoff Race

What’s Happening?

Darlington Raceway will retain its two-race status and will take over NASCAR’s cutoff race slot in 2027, per a new announcement from the track.

  • This shift from Daytona to Darlington was expected, as with the Daytona 500 pushed back a week starting next season, the track’s traditional Labor Day slot would fit perfectly to take over as the cutoff race. The move is also similar to the 2024 season, which saw the track host the cutoff race after the Olympics affected the Cup schedule.
  • So, for 2027, Darlington’s fall race weekend will take place on September 4 and 5 as a NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts and Cup Series doubleheader. The track’s spring race will also continue as a tripleheader weekend featuring all three NASCAR National Series on April 2 through April 4.
  • This announcement clears the way for NASCAR to knock off a significant portion of the 2026 schedule reveal. As of press time, eight of the season’s first ten races are now confirmed.
